My new favorite picture

Of course this will change every week...but I just had to post our latest favorite pic of William. This was just before going for a walk in the "chilly" Houston air. I think I just wanted an excuse for him to wear it. :) He ate it at first, but then he loved it!

Mr. Bumblebee

William was a bumblebee for Halloween. We celebrated in Edna (basically we put him in his costume and laughed at him for about 30 mins) as much as you can celebrate Halloween with a newborn! William had his 2 month check up on Monday. He was 24 1/4" in length and 12lbs 1oz. He is in the 90th percentile for height and 75th for weight.

7 week update

Well, I can't believe that William is almost 2 months old. He changes so much everyday! He has started smiling and laughing and "talking." Its so cute, I definitely spend hours out of the day just staring at him. He is now wearing 3-6 month clothing because he's so long. He can't wear his 0-3 footed jammies anymore...tear....sniff. Here are some recent pics. Weesie and Papa came to visit this last weekend. William's smirk
William's laugh
Pumpkin jammies are awesome...look at that curly hair!?

We thought it was funny that he had his fingers interlocked...very advanced
hand holding.

He's Here!

Wow...the past few weeks have been such a crazy, amazing, scary adventure for us! William arrived at 7:01 am September 8th weighing 7lbs 12oz. (quite a bit lighter than expected :) and measuring 21 1/4". He is beautiful and perfect and we still can't believe he's here! My recovery has been wonderful...praise the Lord and I am feeling close to normal.

So, we realized Wednesday afternoon that Ike was coming right for us. Lee drove down to our house late that night and packed us all up to get ready to evacuate to his parents house in Jersey Village. We had to stay in the hospital three days and were finally released at noon on Thursday the 11th....that is when the craziness ensued! William and I were being wheeled out of the hospital when I realized I wasn't feeling quite right. I was a little nauseous but was so excited to leave the hospital I decided to ignore it..plus traffic was getting really bad with people evacuating and if we didn't leave right away we would be stuck for hours. Well, we got about two blocks before I "lost my lunch" in a bag and traffic was so bad that there would have been no point trying to pull over anywhere...fun times. So I spent our first afternoon sick in bed, we think it was from the pain medicine I was on combined with motion sickness. But, after that I felt much better.

We rode out the storm and two nights without power in JV before heading on to Edna for a week. William has had a busy little life already! We got to come home on Saturday and found our house with little damage...lost some shingles, our fence and had a little bit of water leaked in through the windows and attic.

We are thankful that William is here and that he's safe and healthy. God has answered our prayers and blessed us immensely. We got to spend some great time with both of our families and didn't have to give birth during the hurricane! Thank you all for your messages and prayers, we appreciate it so much.

Just born! Long arms, legs, hand and feet!!

D Day - 9.8.08 (aka Delivery Day!)

So my suspicions that William has gotten a lot bigger over the last two weeks have been confirmed! At our last appointment three weeks ago (34 weeks) William was estimated to weigh 5 lbs 12oz and his head was the size of a full term baby and overall body length was three weeks ahead. On Tuesday, (37 weeks) we got another ultrasound...Lee and I took bets going in on what he was going to weigh. Lee guessed 7lbs 1oz and I guessed 7lbs 6 oz...we thought it was impossible to grow much bigger than that. Well, William is weighing in at a whopping 8 lbs 1 oz. with three weeks left of packing on the pounds. We've heard that these weight guesses can be really off...but the dr. feels very confident of William's size because his length measurements are so ahead (not to mention I am quite large right now)especially his head..as I've mentioned before :)

So...all that to say we will be going in for a c section on September 8th at 6:30 in the morning. Our dr. feels that the chances of me being induced and then going through hours of labor only to end up having a c section are really high and that the risks involved (i.e. baby breaking a bone, baby breaking one of my bones, baby getting stuck..etc.)are not worth it.

That is the plan, unless God decides that's not best and I go into labor early! We will keep you all updated here as soon as William arrives. Can't believe he'll be here in a little over a week...ahhh! Lee and I really appreciate all of your prayers...keep em coming!

Pregnancy=Fun, Weird, Swollen, Sweaty and Joy

Well, we're definitely in the home stretch now (nine months pregnant) and I'm feeling a little nostalgic today as I think back over the past 35 weeks. It is hard to describe my experience...so many emotions...and maybe its from watching hours upon hours of Olympic coverage, but I feel like this whole pregnancy journey has been a lot like running the 400 meters. You feel incredibly nervous and excited and start out strong for the first 100, you relax a little on the back stretch thinking you have plenty of time, then all of a sudden you hit the curve and think there is no way you're going to make another 100 (especially if you hit the curve in the middle of summer!), and before you know it you're in the home stretch...so uncomfortable you think you might die, incredibly exhausted, but you can't wait for the prize at the end of the finish line. :) And they say the 400 is the toughest race after the 800..which I guess would be like having twins.

I also have discovered that not only does your belly expand with every week...but so does everything else. I wasn't quite prepared for the proportional expansion of my nose and the shapeless form my face has taken on...? Who knew? I also felt a little guilty the other night (after turning the air down and turning the fan on) as I looked over to see Lee bundled up in a blanket on the couch as I sweat away in a tank top while we watched a movie. BUT, despite all of the negative comments I really should not complain at all. Lee and I feel so blessed to even have the opportunity to become parents and to have experienced an uneventful pregnancy. God has truly blessed us and we pray everyday that we would be the parents that he wills us to be and that William would grow up with a heart that desires to follow Christ.

So, here's the latest update on William...we went to the doctor this past Thursday and discovered that he is quite a big boy. No suprise...I was 9 lbs 14oz. and Lee was 8 lbs+. But, you know he must be pretty big when the dr. measures the baby's skull...laughs, and then says "Alright, who has the big head in the family?" Just how big is his head you ask? It is 9.2 cm ( the size of a full term baby) with 5 weeks worth of growth left. Not only that, but the rest of his body is measuring 3 weeks ahead. So, the dr. suggested that we start warming up to the fact that I will probably have to have a c section. So please pray for us as William continues to grow and we have to decide here in the next few weeks what is best for all of us and most of all the best for the baby.

Here are some pics documenting our adventure...enjoy!

More like Chuck Norris

Sorry its been so long! I have no excuse...but, I do think that maybe Chuck Norris is more appropriate than Daniel Son. Let me explain. The other night Lee had just come home and he wanted to tell William hello....so, he leans down and goes "Hey William, whatcha doin?" and then puts his ear to my belly... and then BAM gets a roundhouse kick to the temple! I think it may have hurt Lee's feelings that his son would kick him in the head, but I think William is a comedic genius.

I finally uploaded all of my pictures from my camera from forever ago and decided even though they have nothing to do with William, I HAVE to post the pic of Lee and I dressed up as Dwight and Angela from The Office for Halloween. I also have some pics of William's room. We're not finished yet, so its kinda bare but the walls are painted (thanks to my lovely parents)and I'll try to be better about updating them!

Pregnancy update: I'll be 29 weeks pregnant on Monday...Ahhh! Oh, and I passed my gestational diabetes test (I failed the first one).
