Well, we're definitely in the home stretch now (nine months pregnant) and I'm feeling a little nostalgic today as I think back over the past 35 weeks. It is hard to describe my experience...so many emotions...and maybe its from watching hours upon hours of Olympic coverage, but I feel like this whole pregnancy journey has been a lot like running the 400 meters. You feel incredibly nervous and excited and start out strong for the first 100, you relax a little on the back stretch thinking you have plenty of time, then all of a sudden you hit the curve and think there is no way you're going to make another 100 (especially if you hit the curve in the middle of summer!), and before you know it you're in the home stretch...so uncomfortable you think you might die, incredibly exhausted, but you can't wait for the prize at the end of the finish line. :) And they say the 400 is the toughest race after the 800..which I guess would be like having twins.
I also have discovered that not only does your belly expand with every week...but so does everything else. I wasn't quite prepared for the proportional expansion of my nose and the shapeless form my face has taken on...? Who knew? I also felt a little guilty the other night (after turning the air down and turning the fan on) as I looked over to see Lee bundled up in a blanket on the couch as I sweat away in a tank top while we watched a movie. BUT, despite all of the negative comments I really should not complain at all. Lee and I feel so blessed to even have the opportunity to become parents and to have experienced an uneventful pregnancy. God has truly blessed us and we pray everyday that we would be the parents that he wills us to be and that William would grow up with a heart that desires to follow Christ.
So, here's the latest update on William...we went to the doctor this past Thursday and discovered that he is quite a big boy. No suprise...I was 9 lbs 14oz. and Lee was 8 lbs+. But, you know he must be pretty big when the dr. measures the baby's skull...laughs, and then says "Alright, who has the big head in the family?" Just how big is his head you ask? It is 9.2 cm ( the size of a full term baby) with 5 weeks worth of growth left. Not only that, but the rest of his body is measuring 3 weeks ahead. So, the dr. suggested that we start warming up to the fact that I will probably have to have a c section. So please pray for us as William continues to grow and we have to decide here in the next few weeks what is best for all of us and most of all the best for the baby.
Here are some pics documenting our adventure...enjoy!
